GEOINFORMATICs

Faculty of Geoinformation and Real Estate (FGHT) is among the oldest faculty in the University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and we are proud to be part of this faculty as the Department of Geoinformatics. On behalf of the other members of the department, I would like to welcome you to our website.

The department was established back in the year 1994 with the aim to produce graduates in the field of geoinformatics to support the needs in handling various geospatial-related developments of the country. In that sense, we introduce and run an undergraduate programme named as Bachelor of Science (Geoinformatics). It is a four-year program with a clear vision and philosophy of its own to bring out graduates who are equipped with theoretical knowledge and skills as well as good human values to best serve the nation. Until now, the department has produced about 350 graduates, most of whom have successfully secured jobs in various public and private agencies.

The department also runs postgraduate programmes both at Masters and PhD levels to fulfill the need for a continuing education in line with the university’s philosophy of ‘lifelong learning’. In supporting all these academic (and research) programmes, we are well equipped with most resources needed. Our academic staff are trained to be dynamic and well-balanced in delivering both the knowledge and skill to the students. Facilities have been procured and upgraded from time to time. Collaborations have also been established with a number of international and local universities as well as research institutions so that more joint academic activities can be organized and will hence benefit both parties.

It is my hope that this website will assist in disseminating better, clearer and up-to-date information about our department. Any form of comments and suggestions towards enhancing our performance is most welcome.
