:: Overview

B. Sc (Remote Sensing) is an applied science programme that produces graduates with a sound knowledge and skill in Remote Sensing technology and geo-spatial related technologies which have found worldwide applications in natural resource management, environmental management and national strategic planning. Remote sensing technology is defined by The United Nations as ”the sensing of the earth’s surface from space by making use of property of electromagnatic waves, emitted, reflected or diffracted by the sensed objects, for the purpose of improving natural resources management, land use and the protection of the environment”. A graduate in B. Sc (Remote Sensing) could expect to find employment in the expanding industries of natural resource monitoring and management, mapping and planning. Areas such as agriculture, geology and environmental studies are all seeking graduates with knowledge in remote sensing, GIS and geospatial-related technology to support both projects and research works.
